After opening a fortune cookie one day and feeling let down by the empty message inside, we wondered: What if these cookies held something that actually mattered? A promise, maybe? That question sparked Promise Cookies.
We believe the right word at the right time can change everything, so we created these cookies to be a simple, unexpected way to share God’s love and the life-giving promises of His Word; they are small seeds of hope meant to be passed along to anyone who needs a reminder that they are seen, known, and never alone.
Our motto, “Break and see that the Lord is good,” is our gentle nod to Psalm 34:8 (“Taste and see that the Lord is good”). Of course, David wasn't writing about physical cookies or food. He was inviting us into an intimate, lived experience of God’s faithfulness. In the same spirit, eating the cookie is just a sweet bonus. The real heart of the experience is in the breaking, pausing to crack the cookie open, reading a timeless promise, and encountering God’s goodness right where you are.
No matter who receives it, our prayer is that every promise broken open brings a moment of comfort and a faith to hold on to.
